The DZ today in a secret vote with 51 votes for and 36 votes against elected President of SDS Janez Janša as the new Prime Minister. Janša, who has already sworn before the deputies, has thus received the mandate to form his fourth and 16th Slovenian government. As soon as he was elected, reactions from Europe and the world began to pour in.
“Congratulations, dear Janez Janša, on your election as President of the Slovenian government,” von der Leyen wrote on the X network about 15 minutes after the vote. She added that she was looking forward to working together to solve common challenges such as strengthening security, economic resilience and competitiveness at the global level. The President of the European Commission congratulated Janša on the X network as well.
