Dars Under Pressure to Expedite Jerneja Vrtovca Road Project
Plans to accelerate work on the Jerneja Vrtovca regional road in Primorska, including a projected shift to nighttime operations at the Postojna bottleneck, have drawn scrutiny. Traffic expert, Dr. Brglez, expressed strong expectations, stating, “If you ask me, they will already be working at night this Friday, 100 percent yes.”
The initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Infrastructure, aims to alleviate congestion at Postojna, a significant point of disruption.
Dars, the state-owned road operator, is reportedly seeking to modify existing agreements with construction firms to facilitate this change. “Dars will now demand from them or start squeezing them to change these working conditions and start working at night,” Brglez commented. He emphasized the need for a streamlined system to expedite the project’s completion.
Minister Vrtovec acknowledged the challenge, stating, “This will be a big challenge, I think that more than money in this case is the problem of the workforce in the builders and I will now follow them with interest.” The focus remains on optimizing the work schedule, with the possibility of nighttime construction at Postojna now a key element of the project’s timeline.
