Tadej Pogačar secured a significant step toward a fifth overall victory in the Tour de France during the seventh stage. Following a period where his team established a strong pace for the majority of the day, Pogačar launched an attack five kilometers from the summit of the renowned Tourmalet pass, successfully overtaking his rivals. Initially, Jonas Vingegaard maintained the pace alongside the Slovenian rider.
However, Vingegaard eventually relinquished the effort, allowing the Slovenian star’s advantage to increase steadily. Pogačar crossed the finish line 27 minutes and 38 seconds ahead of Jonas Vingegaard, while Isaac del Toro, the Mexican competitor, finished third with a delay of 2 minutes and 57 seconds. This marked Pogačar’s second win of the Tour year, following his strong performance in the third stage.
With this victory, Pogačar now records 23 wins in his career at the French Tour.
