Woman Hospitalized Following Sea Lion Attack in Coogee
Sydney, Australia – Stewart was hospitalized in critical condition following a serious attack by a sea lion on Coogee Beach on June 13th. She sustained multiple bites to her hands and feet, resulting in significant blood loss. Following the incident, medical personnel transported her to a local hospital where she was immediately placed in an artificial coma.
After several difficult operations over the past few days, doctors determined the extent of her injuries necessitated the amputation of her arm. Stewart’s brother, Joshua Stewart, shared details with the public, stating that doctors successfully reduced her medication dosage on Tuesday to briefly awaken her. “It happened much faster than anyone expected,” he wrote.
“For us, it is a real miracle and something we all hoped and prayed for in the last week.”
Currently, Stewart remains in the intensive care unit, having undergone five operations within the past five days. Medical staff anticipate further surgical procedures will be required in the coming weeks as she begins the extensive recovery process. “There is a long road to recovery ahead of her,” a hospital spokesperson confirmed.
