A reserve policewoman extinguished the burning vehicle and prevented greater damage

The Celje Police Department reported handling several criminal incidents over the weekend, including a structure fire and an act of vandalism targeting private property. On Saturday evening, reserve police officers from the Šmarje pri Jelšah area responded to an incident in Sodna vas where a vehicle was discovered engulfed in flames. The officers immediately took action, deploying a fire extinguisher carried in their patrol vehicle to suppress the fire.

Despite the rapid response from the police, the resulting fire caused material damage estimated at approximately 2,500 euros. In addition to the fire incident, the police dealt with another criminal act reported over the night from Saturday to Sunday in Velenje. Unknown perpetrators targeted a personal vehicle parked in the lot on Jenkova street.

The vandalism included puncturing two tires and breaking the rear window of the automobile. The owner of the damaged vehicle reported losses totaling around 3,000 euros. The police confirmed that their efforts covered multiple instances of criminal activity throughout the period.

The incidents underscore the ongoing need for law enforcement presence to manage both emergency situations, such as vehicle fires, and property crimes, such as vandalism. The department continues to investigate the perpetrators responsible for the damage sustained by the vehicle in Velenje.
