Ukrainian Man Arrested at Croatian Border Following Elderly Woman Fraud

Croatian police apprehended a 33-year-old Ukrainian national at the Bajakovo international border crossing on Thursday evening, following suspicions of fraud and theft. The individual is suspected of falsely claiming to be a doctor and defrauding an 80-year-old woman from Dakov. According to Croatian police reports released Saturday, the arrest occurred around 11:30 p.m.

The initial investigation revealed that the man had convinced the 80-year-old woman to transfer 70,000 euros, falsely claiming it was for her daughter’s medical treatment. The woman, from Dakov, reportedly believed his deception and provided the funds. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect remains in police custody.
