The Democrats have emerged as a significant variable and political risk concerning the potential formation of a fourth government under Janša’s right-wing coalition. This uncertainty has intensified, with recent attention focusing on MP Robert Potnik and his potential support for a government led by Janša. Should the Democrats enter such a government, it would represent a departure from a key promise made prior to the elections, which stipulated that the party would only collaborate within a multi-colored coalition.
The current composition of the potential governing bloc includes the SDS, NSi, the Democrats, and the Truth. These parties currently account for a total of 48 votes. However, the commitment of these votes remains subject to doubt.
Skepticism regarding the guaranteed support has been voiced by several key figures. The leader of the Truth party stated that the group would not be entering the government structure. Furthermore, the head of the NSi indicated that their party would not participate in the administration.
These statements introduce a layer of instability into the coalition arithmetic, casting doubt on the certainty of the established vote count and the final structure of the government.
