A British man from an Italian bar was taken to quarantine

Officials at the Luigi Sacco hospital in Milan have stated that there is no danger to the public and that the situation is under control. The hospital was involved in the care of a British tourist who was admitted due to a high risk of exposure to Hantavirus. The individual in question was traveling from the island of St.

Helena to Johannesburg. He was on the same flight as his wife, who had previously been identified as the initial victim of an Hantavirus outbreak aboard the cruise ship MV Hondius. The wife subsequently passed away several days later from the virus.

Investigators suspect that the source of the infection for the wife was exposure while observing birds in Argentina. According to reports from British media, the 60-year-old tourist was located in a bar in Milan on Tuesday evening. He, along with a companion who was not part of the mentioned flight itinerary, were subsequently transported from the location using specialized vehicles.

The information surfaced following a press conference held at the Milan facility. The reports indicate that while the tourist’s presence at the hospital was related to potential viral exposure linked to the cruise ship incident, hospital authorities maintained that the situation remained contained and posed no threat to the general public.
