Actor Jurij Zrnec Reflects on Viewing ‘The Father of the Bronx’
Actor Jurij Zrnec, a key figure in bringing the story to wider attention, recently revisited the film “The Father of the Bronx.” He recounted multiple viewings, detailing the profound impact the experience had on him. Zrnec explained that he initially watched the film twice, with the second viewing occurring with his daughters. During his initial viewing in Sarajevo, Zrnec stated he was so moved he remained silent for two days.
He described a subsequent viewing with his daughters as a more relaxed experience, filled with laughter and a heightened awareness of the film’s construction. “I watched it as a viewer, relaxed,” he said, noting “some mistakes were jumping out.”
Zrnec’s daughters reacted strongly to the film, despite prior warnings. “Despite the warnings, the film was quite good at knocking them out, so we stopped in the middle and took a short break,” he admitted.
He added that he had already watched the film previously. The actor’s reflections highlight the enduring power of the narrative and his personal engagement with the story’s central themes.
