During an appearance on the 24UR NIGHT show, the mayor asserted that the referendum organizers failed to meet the requirements stipulated by law, while characterizing the process at the municipal level as “technically excellent.” He emphasized his non-involvement, stating, “I did not get involved in the referendum campaign, nor was I involved in it as Zoran Janković, the city council or my party. I simply waited.”
The mayor acknowledged that 81 percent of Ljubljana’s residents did not cast a ballot, suggesting that these citizens could have voted either for or against the referendum. Furthermore, despite the organizers reporting 40,324 yellow ballot papers were received, the referendum was ultimately not held.
