Fire Causes Evacuation of Building in Graz
A fire occurred in a building in Graz, Austria, prompting a full evacuation of the structure. According to a resident who contacted ORF Steiermark, the incident was observed from a terrace, with black smoke emanating from the building. The resident immediately directed their children to evacuate.
The Graz fire brigade responded swiftly, deploying 11 vehicles and approximately 50 firefighters to contain the blaze. The Red Cross was also present, offering blankets and basic first aid to displaced residents. Initial reports indicate that around 20 individuals were transported to several hospitals following the event.
Five individuals sustained moderate injuries, while the remaining individuals experienced minor injuries. Authorities confirmed there were no serious injuries reported. Graz Holding, the local waste management company, provided assistance by utilizing two buses to facilitate the evacuation of the building and distribute blankets to affected residents.
The fire was ultimately extinguished by the fire brigade. Investigations into the cause of the fire are currently underway.
