A multi-family building located in the Škofja Loka area was affected by a significant fire late last night, around 2:00 a.m. The blaze reportedly originated in the upper levels or on the roof of the structure. Due to immediate safety concerns, local authorities initiated an evacuation, resulting in 34 residents being safely evacuated from the premises.
Following the suppression of the fire, the police secured the area to conduct a thorough inspection. While some occupants returned to their residences, others proceeded to visit family members. Initial reports suggest that the cause of the incident was an electrical fault.
Preliminary damage assessments indicate that the financial loss is estimated to be in the tens of thousands of euros. The response effort involved multiple emergency services. Personnel from general-7 PGD Škofja Loka, PGD Stara Loka, and GARS Kranj participated in the intervention, alongside a rescue team from ZD Škofja Loka.
