The Devin cliffs, known as Falesie di Duino, are one of the most impressive natural scenes of the northern Adriatic. The high limestone cliffs rising above the Gulf of Trieste offer views that many describe as the most spectacular natural balcony in the region. The Natural Reserve, where the Kras meets the Adriatic, is located in the Falesie di Duino, established in 1996. According to the Regione Autonoma Friuli Venezia Giulia, the reserve covers 44 hectares of land and 63 hectares of sea, making a total of 107 hectares of protected area.
