Proposed Cabinet Changes Include Accelerated Infrastructure Development and Focus on Corruption Reform

Slovenian political figures have outlined proposed changes to the cabinet, centering on infrastructure development and a strengthened approach to combating corruption. Jernej Vrtovec, proposed as minister for infrastructure, is advocating for the continued and accelerated progression of existing infrastructure projects. This includes a faster pace of spatial deployment, expansion of the motorway network, and the consideration of implementing nighttime traffic operations on roadways.

Priority is being placed on the JEK 2 project. Furthermore, Vrtovec intends to oversee a reorganization of the ministry and a comprehensive review of current investments. Franci Matoz, proposed as minister for internal affairs and public administration, has announced plans to reorganize the criminal police force.

He also intends to collaborate with a newly established investigative organ, Skok, to bolster the fight against corruption. Within the realm of public administration, Matoz proposes the introduction of distinct pay systems tailored to specific professions. These changes reflect a commitment to increased efficiency and accountability within government operations.

The proposed restructuring aims to address key areas of concern, including infrastructure development and the ongoing challenge of corruption.
