Rare opportunity to take advantage of The Queen’s visit to Scotland The visitors can enter the rooms where Queen Elizabeth II stayed during her visits to Scotland for the first time. These rooms were previously strictly closed to the public, so the experience is quite intimate and different from the usual tourist visits to royal palaces. Guided tours also include the dressing room where she prepared for official events, and the living room where she worked and watched horse races.
The special feature of this exhibition is that the rooms have remained unchanged. According to the palace administrators, the interior has not been renovated or “arranged for tourists”, but has remained exactly as it was when the Queen left. The chairs still have personal items on them, including her favorite plush toy Haddington and a collection of badges with her name.
