The Tiki Rally Velenje, the longest-running rally in the Šaleška Valley, is about to begin. 71 crews from seven countries have registered. Drivers from Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Croatia, Hungary, Germany and Romania have already tested their vehicles in the morning, a practice run, or shakedown, a little before 4 p.m., before the first of ten speed tests begins.
The organizers are predicting an extremely attractive event, as 18 Rally2 class vehicles are registered for the race. “This is a class above the Rally1, the main vehicle in the World Rally Championship. Rally2 vehicles have 350 to 400 horsepower (257 kW to 294 kW) and four-wheel drive allows them to achieve exceptional acceleration and grip in corners,” explains the race director, Daniel Blažinčič.
