Slovenian women start fight for the European League final

The slovene women’s team has navigated the regular match phase under considerable pressure, aiming to secure qualification for the semi-finals. The squad successfully managed these expectations by winning all their preceding matches with a scoreline of 3:0. While the intensity of the current fixture differs from the preceding rounds, the team maintains its ambition to secure another 3:0 victory in the opening match.

Despite the challenge posed by Slovakia, the players remain confident in their abilities. They acknowledge that the opposition is significantly stronger compared to the teams—including Montenegro, Georgia, Iceland, Latvia, Croatia, and North Macedonia—that they defeated during the regular phase. According to Maša Pucelj, the current level of competition is notably higher than what the slovene women faced earlier this year.

“They play much stronger than these teams that we defeated in the regular match. We have not had such strong matches this year,” Pucelj stated. However, she emphasized that this heightened competition should not deter them.

“But we are not afraid; I think we are still stronger.”

The build-up to this fixture included preparatory matches held previously in Kranjska Gora, where the two sides had met on two prior occasions. The team’s performance in the regular phase demonstrated resilience, and the players are focused on translating that consistent performance into results against a highly regarded opponent.
