Celje Police reported a recent enforcement action involving a driver who was stopped on the motorway after being observed traveling at a speed of 171 km/h. The police issued a payment order to the individual for exceeding the posted speed limit. Furthermore, a subsequent breathalyzer test indicated the driver had a blood alcohol level of 0.83 milligrams per liter of exhaled air.
Due to these multiple violations, the police seized the driver’s license and submitted it to the competent court alongside an indictment. The prescribed penalties for such infractions include a fine of 1,200 euros and the accumulation of 18 criminal points, leading to the invalidation of the driving license. The authorities used the incident to reiterate a public safety warning.
The police emphasized that both excessive speed and operating a vehicle while impaired by alcohol are among the most frequent contributors to severe traffic accidents. Both violations significantly diminish a driver’s capacity to operate a vehicle safely and carry the potential consequence of license revocation. The enforcement action underscores the ongoing necessity for adherence to traffic laws to ensure public safety on roadways.
