“Healing is the most he can do right now”

Luka Dončić has traveled to Spain for specialized treatment following a calf injury. According to reports, the Dallas Mavericks star departed from the United States to a location familiar to his basketball upbringing. ESPN journalist Shams Charania confirmed Dončić’s arrival in Spain, stating that the player is receiving injections targeting the thigh muscle area.

The treatment is aimed at accelerating his recovery and facilitating a return to the court. Medical experts detail the process involved. Stem cells, which can be sourced from blood, subcutaneous fat, or bone marrow – typically from the pelvis – are required.

These cells then undergo processing to create a concentrated stem cell solution. Marko Macura, a UKCL traumatologist and longtime physician for the Slovenian national basketball team, explained the procedure. “The stem cells must be specially processed to obtain a concentrate,” Macura stated.

“This concentrate is then injected.”

The specific details of the injections and the timeline for Dončić’s return remain undisclosed, but the treatment represents an effort to expedite his healing process.
