Žan Hauptman: I long for depth

The short film album Liberosis is a departure from jazz sound, with reggae rhythms in the foreground. What made you ‘move’ to these more light-hearted vibrations and why did you feel the need to take this departure? It seems to me that reggae supports the album’s message well, while at the same time I can use reggae to present my melancholic lyrics to listeners in a slightly more relaxed way.

In short, liberosis means the desire to take life’s situations less seriously, to shake off the shackles of life and above all to rid oneself of the burden of anxiety and responsibility. On the EP, there are five songs, which you told me were already in your drawer for a long time. Why was it time to release them and present them to a wider audience?
