Zahović exclusively: Čeferin is a general and the soldiers respond

Zlatko Zahović, a celebrated figure in Slovenian football history, has returned to the sport in a new role. Zahović is widely regarded as one of the nation’s most accomplished footballers, and following his playing career, he dedicated nearly 13 years to managing Maribor. During this time, he oversaw a period of significant success for the club, leading them to numerous trophies and notable European achievements.

Six years ago, Zahović stepped away from his position as sports director, and Maribor’s continued success quickly became evident. He has since transitioned into a role as an observer of football matches. “You write about a match, and people professionally define it,” Zahović explained.

He noted that he is learning from the experience of previous observers, specifically Miran Pavlin and Milenko Ačimović, who have previously assisted him in this capacity. Zahović expressed his intention to gain a deeper understanding of the role through practical observation. He anticipates a more comprehensive grasp of the work as he begins to actively engage in analyzing and reporting on football matches.
