Young Slovenian Footballers Face Albania in Ajdovščina
A decimated squad of Slovenian footballers took to the field in Ajdovščina to face Albania. The team was significantly weakened by a combination of injuries and national team call-ups, impacting the availability of several key players. Captain Srđan Kuzmić represented Slovenia at the national level, while absences were also due to injuries sustained by prominent figures including Relja Obrić, Nina Milić, Matica Ivanška, Jaka Čubra Potočnik, Sven Šunti, and Kenan Kurtović.
This resulted in a notable reduction in experience and established talent within the squad. In response to these absences, selector Rene Hrvoj opted to call up reinforcements. Kevin Benčič and Aljaž Zalaznik were added to the roster, alongside other young Slovenian footballers.
This selection highlighted a focus on developing and utilizing promising talent within the national program. The match against Albania presented a significant challenge for this young Slovenian team, taking place in Ajdovščina. The focus remained on providing opportunities for these young Slovenian footballers to gain experience and contribute to the team’s performance.
