Tadej Pogačar experienced a challenging day, beginning with a significant setback. He was unfortunately without a key support rider, Jan Christensen, approximately 240 kilometers before the race’s conclusion, following a fall. The situation worsened 32 kilometers from the finish line, where Tadej fell again, sustaining bruising injuries.
He swiftly remounted his bicycle and continued racing alongside his teammates, diligently pursuing the leading group. “When I fell, I thought for a moment that it was all over,” Tadej recalled. “The fall occurred just before the ascent to the Cipresso, a crucial section of the race, which presented an unfavorable circumstance.
Fortunately, I quickly regained my position on the bike, and neither I nor the bicycle sustained serious damage.”
The prominent cyclist emphasized the importance of his team’s response. Despite the difficulties, Tadej and his team worked together to overcome the challenges presented by the day’s events.
