A Greek court has found a man guilty of murdering a woman this year. The convicted man had been in a relationship with the victim for some time. The verdict is not yet final, as the man has appealed, and therefore remains in custody until the appeal process is concluded.
The circumstances surrounding the victim’s disappearance trace back to a phone call initiated in 2009 via Interpol. Jean’s parents discovered that their 53-year-old daughter was missing from Crete. Michael Porter, Jean’s youngest son, recalled the moment his older brother contacted him, stating, “What do you mean she disappeared?” On the day of her disappearance, Jean was scheduled to care for their disabled child.
Because she was absent, immediate concerns were raised. The sons—Robert, David, and Michael—immediately traveled to Crete, hoping that their mother was safe.
