‘We are all part of the same system – also Laibach’

Laibach Releases New Studio Album ‘Musick’ After Years of Diverse Projects

Laibach, the Slovenian avant-garde band, has released its first original studio album, “Musick,” following its initial release in 2014. The delay in producing new music stemmed from a period of significant diversification for the group. Following the release of “Spectre,” Laibach became involved in a wide array of projects that deviated from their established musical framework.

These included composing music for theater productions, film scores, symphonic works, and interdisciplinary artistic endeavors. The band also undertook reinterpretations of their existing catalog. Between 2014 and the present, Laibach released at least twenty albums, encompassing original compositions, reissues of older material, and concert recordings.

This extensive output included the release of “Musick,” presented by Nika H. Praper & Ludvik Vmes, who have shifted the context of listening and the function of music itself. The band notes that contemporary music production has accelerated dramatically.

The sheer volume of new songs – thousands daily – now overwhelms the capacity for focused listening. This rapid proliferation highlights the challenges of engaging with music in the current digital landscape.
