Slovenian Market Inspectorate Conducts Extensive Price Labeling Review

The Market Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia initiated a coordinated monitoring program at the beginning of this year, focusing on price labeling compliance within retail stores. The inspection was prompted by reports of irregularities, including instances of unlabeled prices and unclear product labeling across a range of stores. The inspectorate’s investigation targeted both small and large retail outlets, examining price displays and product labeling at cash registers and in refrigerated sections.

A key objective was to ensure adherence to regulations regarding the clear and accessible presentation of prices. A total of 457 stores were inspected, with violations identified in 336 establishments – representing over 73 percent of the reviewed stores. The findings highlight the importance of accurate price labeling for consumers and retailers alike.

“Price labeling of goods is a fundamental obligation for businesses,” stated the Market Inspectorate. “Clearly and unambiguously labeled prices are crucial for informed consumer decisions, and retailers are legally required to maintain accurate and visible price displays.” The ongoing review underscores the continued focus on ensuring proper price labeling standards within Slovenian stores.
