Victim of fraud: sent 43 thousand euros for a car from Germany

Citizen Victim of Elaborate Fraud Scheme

The Celje Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a series of fraudulent activities targeting a local citizen. Initial reports indicate the citizen was initially contacted by a German company specializing in vehicle sales, resulting in a pre-invoice for a car valued at 43,000 euros. The citizen completed the pre-invoice payment.

Subsequently, it was discovered that an unauthorized individual had gained access to the company’s information system, leading to the fraudulent sale of the car. The citizen was then provided with a false contract and a new transaction account, into which he transferred the funds. Further investigation revealed a second instance of fraud.

The citizen was approached by an unidentified individual who persuaded him to install a mobile application. This app was purportedly designed to facilitate cryptocurrency transactions, during which time approximately 21,000 euros were fraudulently transferred from the citizen’s account. Authorities are currently working to identify those involved in both incidents.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Celje Public Prosecutor’s Office is pursuing all available leads to recover the stolen funds and bring those responsible to justice. The citizen remains a key focus of the inquiry.
