Residential real estate prices continued to rise across several European countries during the final quarter of 2024, according to data released by Eurostat. Hungary experienced the most significant increase, with prices rising by 21.2% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023. Portugal followed closely with a 18.9% increase, while Croatia saw a 16.1% rise.
Slovenia recorded a growth of 5.8% during the same period. Conversely, Finland was the only EU nation to experience a decrease in residential property prices, with a decline of 3.1%. Looking at changes compared to the previous quarter, Slovenia led the growth with a 5.1% increase, followed by Hungary at 4.2% and Portugal at 4.0%.
Price declines were observed in France (-0.7%), Finland (-0.5%), and Estonia (-0.3%). Cyprus remained unchanged. Eurostat revised the data for the growth of prices in the euro area for the third last quarter of the year, decreasing the overall growth figure by 0.1 percentage point to 1.5%.
Across the European Union, the average growth rate for residential real estate was 1.6% for the period.
