Unchanged excise taxes, higher margins, more expensive gasoline

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy provided estimates for fuel costs should current pricing regulations not apply. Under such a scenario, 95-octane gasoline would be projected to cost around 1.641 euros per liter, diesel around 1.708 euros per liter, and heating oil approximately 1.296 euros per liter. Regarding government policy, the excise tax was unchanged on Monday.

However, since the middle of the month, merchants have benefited from adjustments including higher permitted margins and more favorable billing solutions concerning the inclusion of biocomponents in diesel fuel. The Ministry confirmed that regulated prices for petroleum products will continue to be determined using a methodology that tracks global movements in petroleum product prices alongside the exchange rate between the euro and the dollar. Furthermore, model pricing is calculated based on the seven-day average of mineral petroleum product prices.

It is noted that while the Ministry dictates the framework for regulated products, merchants retain the authority to set their own prices for fuel sold on major highways and expressways. These established mechanisms ensure that pricing reflects both international commodity fluctuations and local operational adjustments.
