The Leningrad region’s air defense systems successfully intercepted nineteen drones over the region, according to Governor Alexander Drozdenko. He reported that debris from one of the drones sustained damage after impacting near the Primorsk port. The resulting fire at the port is currently being contained and extinguished.
Drozdenko confirmed that there were no casualties resulting from the incident. Ukrainian forces have recently conducted a series of attacks targeting Russian ports and infrastructure within the Baltic Sea area. This latest incident follows a previous attack on the Primorsk port last week.
Additionally, the Russian Baltic port of Ust-Luga, situated near the Gulf of Finland and close to the Estonian border, was also targeted in a separate attack. These coordinated efforts highlight a sustained pattern of activity in the region, focusing on maritime and logistical assets within Russia’s northwestern territories. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation and manage the ongoing response to the fire at Primorsk port.
