Three Men Sentenced to Prison in Connection with Banjska Attack

A court in Kosovo has sentenced Blagoja Spasojević, Vladimir Tolić, and Dušan Maksimović to life imprisonment. Dušan Maksimović received a 30-year prison sentence following the September 24, 2023, attack in the village of Banjska. The defendants were convicted of terrorist acts and attempted secession.

The court’s decision follows a protracted investigation and trial. The sentencing relates to an incident involving an attack on Kosovo police in Banjska. The attack, which began on September 24th, involved sustained fighting between armed attackers and law enforcement.

Tragically, the events resulted in the deaths of one Kosovo police officer and three individuals involved in the attack. A total of 45 individuals have been indicted by the Kosovo Special Prosecutor’s Office, including Milan Radojčić, the former vice president of a major Serbian political party in Kosovo. Radojčić acknowledged responsibility for the incident shortly after the attack and subsequently resigned from his position.

Most of the defendants remain at large. The court’s ruling stands, marking a significant legal outcome in the case. The convicted individuals have the right to appeal the verdict.

The ongoing investigation continues to focus on identifying and apprehending all those involved in the events surrounding the Banjska incident.
