They call for a significant increase in network tariffs

The system operator of the Slovenian electricity network has addressed recent public and professional concerns regarding the network fees reform, which took effect in October 2024. The operator stated that circulating claims suggesting the reform substantially increased the network fees for Eles and the five associated electricity distribution companies are not supported by actual data and are therefore inaccurate. Despite the operator’s rebuttal concerning the validity of these assessments, the text notes that the network fee reform itself reportedly had a significant adverse effect on the revenue streams of Eles and the five distribution entities.

This reported revenue downturn was further compounded by a government emergency law enacted the previous February, followed by recent modifications to the legislation governing the calculation of network fees for all consumers. In terms of overall financial performance, the electricity distribution companies and Eles collectively reported generating 326 million euros in revenue over the past year. The discussion surrounding the recent fee structure remains complex, involving multiple legislative changes.

The operator’s statements attempt to clarify the financial impact while simultaneously refuting the basis of the public discourse surrounding higher network fees.
