The solution? Iranians should play all matches in Mexico

The Iranian national team has ruled out traveling to the United States for the upcoming World Cup due to safety concerns. President Mehdi Tadj, head of the Iranian Federation, stated unequivocally that they require consent to incorporate social media and third-party content. He emphasized that following President Trump’s declaration that he couldn’t guarantee the security of the Iranian team, they will not be traveling to the USA.

This decision follows a previous denial of a visa to Tadj, who was prevented from attending the group draw in Washington, D.C., in December. The Iranian team’s stance reflects a broader caution regarding international travel. Currently, negotiations are ongoing with FIFA regarding the possibility of hosting their matches during the World Cup, which will be held in Mexico.

The tournament, commencing on June 11th, will feature teams from the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Iran secured a place among the first teams to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in March. All three of Iran’s group stage matches are slated to take place within the United States, including contests against New Zealand.

The Iranian delegation remains focused on securing a venue for their participation in these crucial matches.
