Freedom Group to Examine State Council’s Role in Funding
The Freedom parliamentary group convened a session on Tuesday to investigate potential links between its operations and the State Council (DS), led by Marko Lotrič. Group spokesperson Andrej Klemenc stated the purpose of the meeting was to determine if the DS had served as an institutional, organizational, and financial support structure for the Freedom party. Klemenc indicated that a growing volume of public and media inquiries, coupled with recent revelations, have raised significant questions lacking credible answers.
These concerns center around the funding of certain party events. Specifically, the group is examining discrepancies regarding the costs associated with events reported by the Freedom party, where details are absent from official financial reports. One example cited was a round table discussion held in Slovenske Bistrica, which media outlets have identified as a party event.
However, the Freedom party’s own report does not explicitly reference the session. “A considerable number of concrete indications, media reports, and unresolved questions have accumulated,” Klemenc explained. “Therefore, it is necessary to seek verification from the appropriate authorities.” The group intends to pursue a thorough investigation into these matters.
