An emergency intervention was initiated on the Češevnik area following the incident involving an Italian hiker. According to the RS Emergency Services portal, rescue operations commenced at 9:40 AM and were complicated by the difficult terrain, extending the response time over several hours. The foreign hiker reportedly fell down a slope while accompanied by two friends.
Despite immediate assistance from members of the Ajdovščina Mountaineering Rescue Service and the Civil Protection Emergency Response Unit of the Municipality of Nova Gorica, the hiker sustained severe injuries. First aid was administered at the scene, but the individual ultimately succumbed to his injuries at the location. Personnel from the Brnik Emergency Service team subsequently transported the deceased to Ajdovščina via helicopter, utilizing support from the Air Police Unit to navigate the challenging terrain.
The Police Office of Nova Gorica confirmed that the Italian national involved in the incident has been officially excluded from the area. The rescue efforts highlighted the significant challenges presented by the mountainous environment during emergency medical response.
