Sicilian Police Investigate Illegal Horse Race with Weapon Discharge

Sicilian police are conducting an investigation into an unauthorized horse race that took place in Palagonia, near Catania, last Friday. The incident came to light following a video posted by animal rights activist Enrico Rizzi, which depicted a race involving two individuals and specially trained horses being pulled at high speeds. The video, which has circulated online, shows a large group of spectators present at the race.

Reports indicate that dozens of individuals on motorbikes filmed the event using mobile phones. Disturbingly, some attendees were observed wielding Kalashnikovs and discharging firearms into the air. As a result, two men, aged 40, were reported to the prosecutor’s office in connection with the unauthorized race. The police investigation is ongoing, focusing on the circumstances surrounding the event and the individuals involved in the race and the discharge of firearms.
