The heat has taken over Slovenia: in some places more than 32 degrees

Record Heat in Slovenia Followed by Potential Storms

Slovenia experienced exceptionally high temperatures today, with readings reaching 32 degrees Celsius in Bilja and Tolmin. Črnomelj and Ljubljana recorded 31.5 degrees Celsius, representing a significant deviation from the seasonal average. These temperatures are 10 degrees higher than typical for this time of year, according to the Environmental Agency.

The current heat marks a record for May, dating back 17 years. At that time, a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius was measured in Slapa pri Vipavi. Previous records include 34 degrees Celsius in Bizeljsko, Maribor, and Metlika, though these occurred in May 69 years ago.

Despite the current warmth, a shift in weather is anticipated for tomorrow. A cold front is expected to move across the country, bringing a varied day with a risk of thunderstorms. Localized areas face a danger of hail, particularly during the middle of the day and evening.

The extreme temperatures today were significantly higher than the average, and the change in weather conditions highlights the volatility of the current climate. The highest recorded degrees were measured in May 17 years ago.
