The government has announced a significant increase in fuel prices, especially for diesel and heating oil

Minister for Finance Klemen Boštjančič and Minister for the Environment, Climate and Energy Bojan Kumer addressed the current circumstances within the fuel sector. Kumer detailed that, stemming from the instability in the Middle East and subsequent oil price escalation, a substantial increase in fuel costs is anticipated next week. The situation is compounded by reported shortages of fuel supplies at Petrol.

Both ministers underscored the government’s commitment to mitigating the impact of this rise. They intend to implement maximum measures to minimize the overall increase in prices. Specifically, they will reduce excise duty and environmental taxes to their lowest possible levels.

They stress that there is no need for panic, as the projected fuel price increase will be considerably less than it would be without governmental intervention. The government assures consumers that it will exert every effort to safeguard their interests. Kumer announced that diesel and heating oil are expected to experience the most pronounced increase, approximately 12 cents per liter, with a slightly lower rise for gasoline.

The government’s actions aim to manage the significant increase in fuel prices effectively.
