Viper Bite Reported, Emergency Services Respond
Emergency services responded to a reported viper bite at approximately 4:00 pm today. Details regarding the injured individual are currently unavailable. The incident follows a concerning case last summer in Slovenia where a viper bite resulted in a fatal outcome – the first in decades.
Miran Brvar, head of the Centre for Toxicology and Pharmacology at the Ljubljana University Hospital, previously explained the typical progression of a viper bite. Following a bite, individuals generally experience immediate pain accompanied by two puncture wounds and bleeding at the site. The affected area will subsequently swell, leading to intense pain that can spread throughout the body.
Systemic symptoms of poisoning can develop, including nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, excessive sweating, hypotension, irregular heart rhythms, and potentially, loss of consciousness. Medical professionals emphasize the importance of immediate attention following a viper bite. Accurate time of the incident is currently being determined.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
