The Court of Valencia has sentenced Rafo Mira, a former Valencia player, to eight and a half years in prison; on May 28, he was tried for a sexual assault (an offence that in Spain also includes rape) and causing bodily injury,” the court’s message said.
The second defendant, a friend of the footballer, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison for a sexual assault and “criminal acts against moral integrity.” The court ordered Mira, who insisted on his innocence, to pay the victim 64,000 euros in damages. The incident took place on September 1, 2024 at the home of the player in Betera, after Mir and a friend had met two women in a nightclub. The 28-year-old player was arrested on May 28, 2023.
