The end of the “deserved vacation” in Croatia. Where now?

The US aircraft carrier, Gerald Ford, made a scheduled stop in Split on Saturday, as confirmed by the US embassy in Croatia. This planned visit included necessary technical maintenance, further solidifying US-Croatian relations and reinforcing the NATO alliance. The embassy’s statement highlighted the importance of this engagement.

Net.hr reports that no media access was granted during the carrier’s brief stay in the port. This marked a return to Split, having previously been there last October. Notably, 2023 represented the first time the largest Croatian port welcomed a vessel to the Adriatic Sea.

The ship’s Mediterranean presence was also part of a prior operation. During that year, the vessel was observed in the Mediterranean Sea. The Gerald Ford was involved in the “Epical rage” operation within the Red Sea.

Previous events, including a dramatic fire in the laundry and accounts of traditional Croatian treats like polka, potica, and slivovka, were also referenced in connection with the ship’s activities. This visit to Split underscored the ongoing strategic partnership between the United States and Croatia.
