Increased Traffic Expected Along Croatian Motorways Due to Border Movement
Significant traffic congestion is developing along Croatian motorways as a large number of vehicles travel north from Bosnia and Herzegovina. Starting in the early hours, long queues of vehicles have formed at border crossings, intending to proceed through Croatia and, in many cases, Slovenia. Croatian authorities are anticipating particularly heavy traffic volumes on key routes.
Specifically, the A1 Zagreb-Split-Ploče and A6 Rijeka-Zagreb motorways are expected to experience substantial delays. The A3 Bregana-Lipovac, Istrski ipsilon, Krk bridge, and ferry ports are also anticipated to be heavily utilized. Road closures are further contributing to the situation.
Until June 12th, the A1 section between the Bisko and Split junctions will be closed to through traffic, necessitating a diversion via the bypass. Travelers are advised to depart early in the morning to minimize delays. Irvin Filipović, a representative of a Croatian motorcycle club, cautioned that patience will be essential, particularly for those traveling after midday.
Motorists are urged to plan their routes carefully and allow for extended travel times due to the increased volume of traffic moving north through Croatia, ultimately impacting routes towards Zagreb.
