Multiple maritime incidents required intervention along the Adriatic coast recently. One significant event occurred in Senj, involving a Czech family of four. Strong westerly winds swept two small children, who were on a surfboard, far from Banj beach and toward the island of Krk.
The parents pursued the children, but their efforts were hampered by exhaustion. Authorities from the Senj harbor captain and the maritime police were dispatched to the scene, successfully conducting a rescue operation and safely transporting the entire family back to land. Separately, another rescue took place near Osek cape, close to Baška Voda.
Around 10 a.m., an eyewitness alerted authorities that westerly winds had carried two individuals, situated on a surfboard and inflatable cushion, toward Brac island. Given the precarious sea conditions and the immediate danger posed to the people, a citizen positioned closest to the endangered parties initiated the rescue. The individual utilized their boat to reach the stranded people.
In this instance, the citizen’s quick action ensured that both individuals were recovered unharmed. These incidents highlight the ongoing risks posed by unpredictable coastal weather. In both cases, swift action—whether by professional maritime personnel or concerned citizens—was critical to ensuring the safety of those involved.
