Oscar Statue Mishap: ‘Mr. Nobody Against Putin’ Award Delayed After Airport Security Concerns

New York – Pavel Talankin, the recipient of an Oscar for his documentary Mr. Nobody Against Putin, experienced a logistical delay at John F.

Kennedy Airport on Wednesday when airport security assessed a statue as a potential weapon. The award, presented for the documentary, was initially packed in a cardboard box and transported as checked luggage during its journey to Germany. However, the statue was not present upon arrival in Germany.

The Mr. Nobody Against Putin team reported the missing item to Lufthansa, the airline transporting the award. Lufthansa expressed regret and initiated a search, stating they undertook the process “with the utmost care.”

Approximately six hours later, the company confirmed the statue’s recovery in Frankfurt.

It is scheduled to be returned to Mr. Talankin as soon as possible. The circumstances surrounding the statue’s temporary disappearance remain under internal review by Lufthansa.

Talankin previously indicated that he had successfully transported the oscars and the statue without incident prior to this event. The incident involved the handling of the nobody statue as luggage during transit. Further details regarding the cause of the delay are expected as the investigation continues.
