In Thailand, they are increasingly aware that tourism is one of the main economic sectors, but there are also “black sheep” among visitors. Reports of larger and smaller criminal acts involving foreigners are growing. The Thai government has therefore decided to take action.

The visa-free residence permit for citizens of more than 90 countries, including Slovenia, will be shortened from 60 to 30 days, reports The Guardian. The measure applies to all countries in the Schengen area, Great Britain, Australia and the USA. Tourists will be able to stay longer, but will have to obtain visas from the Thai immigration office, stating why they want to extend their stay.

In addition, Thailand has introduced a temporary visa for foreigners.
