The distinctive blue uniforms of stewardesses at Adria consistently drew the gaze of passengers, who frequently encountered them in their sophisticated and formal clothing. Their carefully styled hair, applied lipstick, and welcoming smiles remain easily noticeable even now. “When you are selected to be a stewardess, you enter a completely different realm,” explains former Adria employee Zdenka Koritnik.

“During our time in Yugoslavia, it was still quite restricted, yet we possessed everything. And we acquired it all. It presented a significant benefit.”

Koritnik worked for Adria from 1977 to 1994.

“When you engage with the global community, you inevitably perceive the world differently, adapting to its standards,” she elaborates. “It was essential to be well-presented, impeccably dressed, and wear attractive footwear. We also had the opportunity to purchase foreign books unavailable domestically.

We were open-minded, educated, and dynamic.”
