Stellantis has called back 700,000 vehicles worldwide

A significant recall affects a large number of vehicles across several brands. According to a KBA statement, summarized by AFP, approximately 295,000 Peugeot 208 and 2008 models are impacted. Furthermore, 126,000 Citroen C3, C4, and C3 Aircross vehicles, alongside 124,000 Fiat Grande Pandas, 44,000 Alfa Romeo Juniors, and 88,000 Jeep Avengers, are also subject to this action.

The primary concerns relate to hybrid cars. The issue centers around the installation of the petrol and electric motors, positioned too closely together. This configuration creates a potential risk, particularly in humid conditions, where contact can occur between the smaller components.

This contact subsequently leads to a fire hazard. Stellantis confirmed on Wednesday that they had documented 36 instances globally, including twelve reported fires. They have initiated a recall affecting over 200,000 vehicles in France.

Stellantis assures that the problem is easily remedied, requiring only a few minutes for resolution through a component replacement.
