Snow, silence, freedom… and risk

The darkness remains outside, yet the alarm is already disrupting the quiet with its soothing “Bach melody.” It genuinely tempts one to ignore it and assert that a free day is preferable to an early start. However, those who appreciate the rewards of a morning journey to the mountains understand that the alarm cannot be silenced. I was certainly no exception.

Last evening, I resolved to seek out a winter idyll, dressed in vibrant spring hues, though still possessing enough white for my touring skis to perform optimally. Zelenica beckoned me, a once-thriving ski resort in Slovenia, particularly active during the 60s and 70s. It served as a crucial training ground for prominent ski figures like Bojan Križaj, Andrej Jerman, and ski jumper Žan Košir.

Remarkably, when the resort was revitalized fourteen years ago, the concept of skiing was not initially considered. The situation is already established, and I was not going to deviate from my plan.
