Slovenian National Volleyball Team Begins Linji Tournament with Mixed Results
The Slovenian national volleyball team commenced its participation in the Chinese Linji Tournament with a record of three victories and one defeat. The Slovenians secured wins against China, Poland, and Cuba, all decided by a score of 3-2. However, they were defeated by Japan.
The second phase of the tournament will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where the team will face a challenging group including Canada, Bulgaria, Brazil, and Italy. Captain Tine Urnaut anticipates a highly competitive event. Prior to the competition’s start, Urnaut stated, “This tournament will be as strong as it has never been in Slovenia, and it will be hard to ever again.” She expressed optimism regarding the atmosphere at the Stožice arena, hoping for a “phenomenal” experience.
Urnaut, a native of Carinthia, emphasized the team’s commitment to success. “It is always phenomenal to play here,” she added. “I hope that the atmosphere in Stožice will be even more phenomenal.” The Slovenians are aiming to build upon their initial results and deliver a strong performance throughout the remainder of the tournament.
