Slovenian text: Janez Janša FOT: Damjan Žibert The SDS candidate for prime minister, Janez Janša, submitted his candidacy for the presidency of the government on Tuesday, with the support of the group of MPs with the first-time leader of the SDS parliamentary group Jelko Godec. The candidacy was supported by MPs from the NSi, SLS and Fokus, as well as the Democrats, with whom Janša is expected to form a government, and the party Resnica, which will formally remain in opposition. It is expected that the MPs from these MP groups will also support him in a secret ballot.
If Janša is not elected as president, the DZ will decide on the proposal for the implementation of a new vote on the president of the government, where a simple majority of MPs is sufficient for election.
